Get ready to rev your engines—cars from every corner of the country are rolling in, each one hoping to be crowned the wildest racer in the “wheelderness!” And yep, we know you’ve been wondering how this epic new race setting will cruise into the rivers, vistas, and magic of Magic Kingdom.
Well, buckle up—because we’re thrilled to announce that Piston Peak National Park is joining the journey, continuing the legendary storytelling that’s been drifting through Liberty Square and Frontierland since day one!
Magic Kingdom has taken adventurers on a journey through time—from the cobblestone charm of Liberty Square to the wild, untamed spirit of Frontierland. Guests have wandered from colonial streets to a toe-tapping bear jamboree in the North Woods, made a splash in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and thundered through the Arizona canyons on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
What ties it all together? Daring dreamers—heroes who believed in themselves and blazed their own trail. And now, that legacy continues with something wild, wonderful, and wheely exciting: the debut of Piston Peak National Park—part of the biggest expansion in Magic Kingdom history!

Picture this: a majestic wilderness with towering pines, snow-dusted peaks, crashing waterfalls, roaring rivers, and geysers shooting sky-high. Inspired by the legendary Rockies and the awe of America’s national parks, Piston Peak may be fictional—but it’s filled with very real adventure.
Inside this scenic stunner, guests will cruise into the world of Disney and Pixar’s Cars—exploring Ranger HQ, scenic trails, and a cozy visitor lodge straight out of the wild. To make it all feel right at home in nature, Imagineers are using “Parkitecture”—a rustic, national park design style that blends buildings right into the great outdoors.
From the outside, tall trees will shield the off-road rally course from Liberty Square and Frontierland, while jagged mountains and peaceful waterways hug the space near Grizzly Hall. And don’t be surprised if the soaring geysers of Big Thunder seem to stretch their steam into these rugged new trails!
And there’s more! Starting July 7, work kicks into high gear—Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat will temporarily close as Imagineers dive into bringing the magic to life. Just beyond Big Thunder Mountain, something deliciously dark is stirring too: the very first Disney Villains-inspired land, packed with sinister attractions, over-the-top dining, and devious shopping on an epic scale.
