Our Epic Experience at Universal’s Epic Universe: The Good and The Not-So-Great

We just got back from Universal’s Epic Universe, and we’re here to give you the real scoop—the good and the not-so-great. From mind-blowing theming to some surprising challenges, we want to share exactly what our experience was like so you can plan your own visit with confidence. 🎢🌍

🎮 Super Nintendo World: A Gamer’s Dream… Mostly

Walking into Super Nintendo World felt like entering the game itself! The design and detail were absolutely stunning. Donkey Kong’s Mine-Cart Madness was a major highlight—super exciting and cleverly designed. We also rode Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, which used cutting-edge augmented reality in a very creative way.

However, we were disappointed with how limited the experiences were for younger kids. Many rides had height requirements that left our little ones on the sidelines. While older kids and teens will love it, parents of toddlers and small children should definitely check ride heights before going to avoid frustration.

🔁 Rider Swap Saves the Day

One great feature for families: Universal’s rider swap program. Some attractions offered a special room where one parent could wait with the kids while the other rode—then swap without having to wait in line again. It was a thoughtful touch and helped us experience more of the park without too much hassle.

🍗 Picky Eaters, Beware

We did run into a challenge when it came to food options for kids. It was surprisingly difficult to find simple meals like chicken fingers or plain pasta. The dining selections leaned more adventurous, which may be a win for foodies, but not so much for picky eaters. We’re hopeful this will improve over time as the park grows.

🧒 Better for Big Kids… For Now

While we had a lot of fun, we’d definitely say that Epic Universe is currently best suited for older kids who meet the height requirements and love thrill rides. Families with younger children might want to wait until more kid-friendly options are available.

Overall, it was a memorable trip with lots of fun moments—and a few things we hope will improve in the future!
