Last night, the Anaheim city council gave the green light to DisneylandForward, paving the way for a new chapter in the Disneyland Resort's history! They’ve collaborated with city officials, neighbors, and the community over the past three years to ensure this project benefits everyone.
Nearly seven decades ago, Walt Disney revolutionized the entertainment industry by opening his pioneering theme park, setting a new benchmark for immersive experiences. In 2001, the Disneyland Resort expanded to include Disney California Adventure Park, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and the Downtown Disney District, cementing its status as the ultimate multi-day vacation destination in Southern California, offering a world-class experience that surpasses expectations.
Since its expansion in 2001, Disneyland Resort has continued to evolve with groundbreaking additions like Cars Land, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, and Avengers Campus. Investing at least $1.9 billion over the first decade to bring even more thrilling experiences to guests. This investment is expected to generate an additional $15 million in annual revenue for Anaheim, supporting essential community services like fire and police departments, parks, and libraries. We're dedicated to giving back to the community, as seen through our support for affordable housing initiatives, workforce development programs, and partnerships with local organizations like the AIME Program. Their commitment to Anaheim includes a unique benefits package totaling over $123 million, encompassing affordable housing, park improvements, traffic enhancements, and workforce development. DisneylandForward, will create over 4,500 operational jobs and nearly 9,000 construction jobs in the first 10 years, providing exciting opportunities for the community.
Disney is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of cast members, both current and future, by offering benefits like affordable healthcare and childcare, mentorship opportunities, training programs, and support for achieving educational goals - including they’re Aspire program, which provides fully paid tuition for eligible hourly cast members. For nearly 70 years, Disneyland Resort has left an indelible mark on the lives of hundreds of millions of guests from around the world. Disneyland’s future is bright.. make sure to grab some sunglasses!
